Details: An Elegant Façade is book 2 in the Hawthorne House series by Kristi Ann Hunter. It is a regency romance novel with a strong faith base.
What I Thought: I love this book so much! It’s just as compelling as the first, and I loved Georgina’s character. Her insecurities, and the way she hides who she truly is not only fascinating, but for me personally, relatable, as I can tend to be reserved. I loved getting to know Colin, since I was curious about him after I met him in A Noble Masquerade.
Back Cover: Lady Georgina Hawthorne has worked tirelessly to seal her place as the Incomparable for her debut season. At her first London ball, she hopes to snag the attention of an earl.
With money and business connections, but without impeccable bloodlines, Colin McCrae is invited everywhere but accepted nowhere. When he first encounters the fashionable Lady Georgina, he’s irritated by his attraction to a woman who concerns herself only with status and appearance.
What Colin doesn’t know is that Georgina’s desperate social aspirations are driven by the shameful secret she harbors. Association with Colin McCrae is not part of Georgina’s plan, but as their paths continue to cross, they both must decide if the realization of their dreams is worth the sacrifices they must make.
The Style: Really, Kristi Ann Hunter is awesome! Her writing is amazing. I felt like I was there the whole time, and not once did I disconnect from the plot or characters.
The Moral of the Story: Georgina’s journey to faith is incredible. She feels because of her flaws God must not love her. As she is introduced to grace through Colin, she realizes that God loves her and wants her to be his child.
Who Should Read This? Age seventeen and up, for reasons stated in review of the first book.
